As Time Goes On. Part 1. By:Keira

A blanket of ash covers the ground, and the stars fall from the sky. Literally. Flakes of glowing light emerge from the sky, dancing around the last of us. Beautiful, but deadly. I reach out to touch one, but Matt swats my hand away. Then, I hear a scream. Jane. She clutches a burnt hand, screaming, as Sarah and Toby lead her inside. But Matt and I just stand here, staring at the falling stars. I'm ready to let go, when I here it. Why did it have to be that. I was ready for the end...
Let me introduce myself. I'm Kate. I'm a senior in high school. Well, I was in high school. But that was before the incident... But we'll get to that later. So, anyways, I'm 17 years old, and I was an honour student at my high school. I have long, silky, dirty blond-hair, and eyes that are like the ocean. I have creamy skin and I tend to wear open hoodies with nerdy tee-shirts. I used to spend my weekends studying at the beach and doing charity work. But know, I'm to bust trying to save the last of us...
Let me tell you how this all started...

"Kate! Come on! The bell's about to ring! We're going to miss class!" Shouts Derek, rushing me to get to class in time, which is all the way on the other side of campus.
"I'm coming, just give me a minute to gather my books." I shout in response. He's a good best friend and all, but things would be going a lot faster if he was helping me instead of rushing me. Whatever. We'll still get to class in time.
It was a sunny, spring day. The sun was beaming, the sky was light blue, the grass was green. The air was moist warm, yet crisp, all at the same time. Derek and I were just about to meet up with Matt and Sophia in biology for a project that we were doing, when it happened. The sky turned a greenish-purple, as grey clouds cast themselves into the sky. Lightning strikes at random, and Derek pulls me to the ground, trying to decrease our chance of getting struck down.
"Kate, we have to get out of here, stay low, okay?" He says, worriedly. Lightning strikes right beside us, and catches that area on fire. we stare in disbelief. there was nothing tall beside us, just flat ground. It strikes again, directly in-between us.
Then, all I see is a light flash.

To be continued...

  1. Its nice that you started your own blog. Your stories on the class blog were realistic, adventurous, and like always, you leave the story at moments where it begs the reader to read the next part. Keep up the good work.
